Lizzie began her professional career as Liz Moyes, working at a design group, Murdoch Design, after which she joined Artist Partners in 1972 as a photographer and archivist. Many important illustrators of the period worked there and within two years she was drawn into the world of illustration and after producing some specimens was taken on by the agency as an illustrator. Since then she has continued in practice, setting up in partnership with Brian Sanders in 1985. She has worked for advertising, packaging, and publishing; illustrating several children’s books and also working as a paper engineer. She specializes in step by step illustrations for home furnishings enhanced by her knowledge of sewing. Her recent clients include Homes and Gardens, Mattel (portrait of Prince Charles in Scrabble pieces) and Bettys & Taylors; she redesigned the Yorkshire Tea Pack in 2001, having executed the first in the 1980s. Her Yorkshire Tea Special Edition pack commissioned for Asda appeared as posters in the London underground before Christmas 2009. Elements of the current main pack illustration continue to form the basis of current Yorkshire Tea advertising. As well as serving on the committee of The Association of Illustrators, Lizzie has exhibited with them as well as with The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. Additionally Lizzie paints portraits, still life and is embarking on landscape studies. She teaches intermittently. Lizzie has instigated, edited and produced several books and together with Brian Sanders has just launched their new imprint Small Fort. www.smallfort.co.uk initially to publish Brian’s most recent book, ‘Evacuee, a Wartime Childhood’.
